1. How do I charge the transmitter and collar receiver?

Connect each unit to the charger via its battery charging receptacle (under the rubber cover). The indicator light tells you the status:

Blinking green — normal operation
Solid red — currently charging
Blinking red — needs to be recharged

A full charge takes about 1–2 hours. Don't let the batteries get fully discharged or overheated — for long-term storage, keep the unit at room temperature with roughly 50% charge.

2. How do I turn the transmitter and collar receiver on/off?

Collar Receiver: Press the ON/OFF button until you see green LED lights.
Transmitter: Press and hold the "L" (light) button for more than 1 second to turn on. A short press while it's on activates the receiver's tracking light; press and hold for 2 seconds to turn the transmitter off.

3. How do I fit the collar correctly, and how long can my dog wear it?

The contact points need direct skin contact — you should be able to fit a couple of fingers between the strap and your dog's neck. Too tight can cause irritation; too loose means unreliable stimulation. Position the receiver near either side of the windpipe.

Important: Don't leave the collar receiver on for more than 12 hours per day, and rotate its position occasionally to prevent skin irritation or metal allergy symptoms (redness, hair loss, sores). If irritation occurs, stop use, treat with antibiotic ointment, and consider hypoallergenic contact points.

4. How do I find the right stimulation level for my dog?

Let your dog wear the collar for a couple of hours to get used to it.
With your dog nearby, set the level to "0" and press the continuous stimulation button.
Slowly raise the level (about 2–3 levels/second) and release as soon as your dog first reacts — usually between 5 and 20. That's your "conditioning" level.
The "Boost" level (see #6) is typically 5–20 levels higher than this conditioning level for stubborn dogs or distracting situations.

5. How do I lock/unlock the stimulation level?

Set your desired level, then press down on top of the stimulation dial. A solid "1D" (or "2D" for two-dog systems) on the LCD means it's locked; a flashing "1D"/"2D" means it's unlocked. Press the dial again to toggle. This prevents the level from changing accidentally during use.

6. What is the "Boost" feature, and how do I set it?

Boost adds extra stimulation on top of your set level for dogs that don't respond to the normal "conditioning" level — typically 5–20 levels higher.

To set it: switch to Momentary mode → set intensity to "0" → press and hold the S (Black) button for 5+ seconds until the level starts flashing → rotate the dial to your desired boost level (1–60) → press S (Black) again to save. (On two-dog 802/1202 systems, use S (Red) for the second dog's boost.)

7. How do I pair (sync) the transmitter to a collar receiver, or add a second collar?

Turn on the transmitter and set the intensity dial to "0."
Make sure the collar receiver is off.
Press and hold the receiver's ON/OFF button for 5+ seconds — its light will flash rapidly.
Immediately press and hold Black "S" followed by Red "S" on the transmitter until you hear a confirmation beep from the receiver.

(The 802/1202 models can also switch between 1-dog and 2-dog transmitter modes by pressing Red "S" + Black "S" + "T" simultaneously for 2+ seconds.)

8. What is Lost Transmitter Mode, and how do I use it?

It's a 6-hour locator timer. Activate it by pressing the Light (L) button and Black "S" button at the same time while intensity is at 0 (three beeps confirm activation). After 6 hours, the transmitter beeps periodically (LCD shows "AL") to help you find it. Deactivate the same way using L + Red "S" (two beeps confirm). Note: this resets whenever the transmitter is turned off, so reactivate it each time before a hike or activity where you might misplace it.

9. My receiver isn't responding or isn't stimulating my dog — what should I check?

Won't turn on: Make sure it's fully charged (light turns green when charging is complete).
Not responding: Confirm the receiver's light blinks green and the transmitter LCD is on; the receiver's light should turn red when a stimulation button is pressed. If not, try re-pairing (see FAQ #7).
No stimulation felt: Remove the contact points, attach the included Test Light to the receiver, and test — a blinking test light confirms the receiver is working.
Can't change stimulation level: The level is locked (see FAQ #5) — unlock it by pressing the dial for 1 second.

Great collar but terrible instructions

I like that this collar is obviously of good quality. I also like that it is an expandable unit and I can add another dog to the system later on. However, the instruction manual is utterly useless. You can probably figure out how to work the collar yourself but still, having a manual with easy to follow directions would have been a big help.

Wonderful dog training tool

This is a wonderful communication tool. It really helped my dog understand what's expected and needed from him. He has a stubborn streak and this helped with teaching him consistency, especially with recall. It's been a huge help in correcting his need to chase as well.

Like having a whole new dog

Bought for a stubborn husky with a strong prey drive. This dog is very fast when he wants to be and immovable when he decides he's done with whatever you want him to do.

Works well

The collar works well. Easy set-up. Fast results.

Slightly difficult to set-up but works well

I tried this on myself. The stimulation is mildly uncomfortable but not painful. Level 10 is enough to get my Ridgeback's attention. Level 15 if he's being difficult. Only complaint I have is the set-up was a bit tricky. I also wish there's an option to choose what length prong is included. Or at least just include all three sizes. Both the included medium and long prongs were too much for my fine-haired dog. I needed to purchase the small kind.

Too complicated for me

I wanted to like the product and it probably works well but I just find it too complicated for me. I can't tell if the stimulation is reaching my dog. I can't identify of he felt anything at all. Even fastening the collar on him didn't seem to be as straightforward as it should be.

Effective communication toll

Just having this collar on is enough to make my dog act completely differently. My dog has the energy of 5 dogs combined. He can get very excited and once in that state, it can be very difficult for him to listen. We switched to this collar because the stimulation is more powerful. Depending on how distracted he is, the transmitter level goes between level 30-70. He wears the collar all day but I take it off at night so I can charge it.

The ET-800 E-Collar is amazing! My baby girl is a scary-looking pitbull that I adopted from the shelter. She hasn't had a great life prior to finding her forever home with me. Lots of issues needed to be addressed. She can be aggressive and will give chase to anyone she thinks is encroaching on her territory. When she's on a chase, no one can catch her.

I purchased this E-Collar because I really wanted to help her. No way I'm sending her back. I watched so many online video tutorials before buying this. It wasn't easy and took me a few weeks to see any improvement but trust me, if you're consistent with training, you will see incredible results.

We have a dog that's just failing to show any improvement despite the many training methods we've tried. Our dog trainer recommended adding an e-collar to her training program.
