Love the mini educator

I love this e-collar. I think it works great. However, my dog got sores on his neck after wearing this for one weekend. I think he may be allergic to the nickel in the contact points. I did purchase hypoallergenic ones and am waiting for them to arrive. I will update my rating once I try the new contact points.

Fantastic product

I have a rescue and I'm using this to build recall and correct behavior. This really is not that much smaller than the mini and that's the only thing I dislike about it.

Collar can be improved

I have a long haired poodle. The collar needs to be really tight for the prong things to touch his neck. Maybe I should just buy longer prongs so it works better.

Got my dog to listen

I have a rather stubborn gsd puppy that likes to make a huge mess in the yard. This collar has helped tremendously with training and he is now a better behaved dog. I would highly recommend this to anyone!

Quick response

I mistakenly purchased this. I was hoping to get the mini educator and saw the purple remote and thought it was the same model. I was initially concerned that because this is supposedly for smaller dogs, it won't really help with my rather large mastiff. Thankfully, that is not the case. The shock is on this is still strong enough to get his attention during training which is great because now I don't need to return anything. Only issue I have now is the shape of the remote takes some getting used to. Finding the correct button to push can be challenging.

Great training collar

We usually trigger the vibration before using the shock. Within a few tries, our dog knows he needs to listen so he doesn't get the shock anymore. Right now, training is going great. We hardly ever use the shock function anymore. We charge the unit at night and it works consistently the entire following day. The remote is also comfortable to use.

Perfect for small and medium dogs

We have a corgi that needs to unlearn some bad behavior and this has worked well. She responds at level 5 and we haven't had to go above that level yet, even when she's distracted.

We also have a bigger dog, a german shepherd that we use a mini educator on. The micro doesn't do anything for him so if you have a medium to large dog, definitely don't get the micro and get the mini instead. But for small to medium dogs, the micro is just perfect. Maybe not for very small or toy breeds though. I just can't picture the collar on a very small dog like a chihuahua.

Great help with training

I have a dog that will give chase to every single dog she sees. This collar was purchased to help train that out of her. I worked with a trainer and so far, it's going very well. The shock is enough to distract my dog and not have her bolting.

The Mini is Better

The mini educator and this micro educator are around the same price so I expected the functions and features to be very similar as well. However, I do not think this is as strong as the mini. My dog is a little over 15 pounds and hardly reacts to the vibration. I use the same level as the before on the mini.

The micro educator is small and sturdy. I've only had this for a few days so I'm still just trying to get my dog accustomed to wearing the collar. We haven't started with the training yet. However, I have practiced with the remote and I can say it's easy to use. It fits my hand well. The buttons are easy to identify so I don't need to be constantly looking at it to use it. It feels durable and the collar itself isn't very heavy. I added a clip on bungee collar to make it easier to put on my dog.

Recommended for small dogs

Some reviews say the photos of the product are misleading because it still looks too big for a chihuahua. I have a chihuahua and this doesn't bother him. It does look a little big but it weighs next to nothing. Used properly, the e-collar will do wonders for training.
