Awesome fence but...

Awesome fence but what the heck is up with that collar? The strap material is very flimsy. My dog barely had it for 2 days before he chewed right through it.

I hate the collar on this device

I spent $200 on this system and while the fence itself is fantastic, the collar is crap. The material looked and felt very cheap. In fact, my dog's collar was destroyed within a few weeks of using it. He didn't even have to try very hard to break the damn thing. All it took was one play session with my other dogs to do it.

The in-ground fence system is good though. The collar beeped when my dog neared the coundary and in a week, he's figured out where he can and cannot go. Over-all, I am happy with the fence but very disappointed in the collar.

Reliable

The best thing about this in ground fence is you can customize the level on each collar. I have several dogs and some are more stubbirn than the others. Having the option to set higher correction levels for the more hard-headed dogs is just fantastic. My dogs learned about the boundaries quickly and now I don't worry anymore that they'll take off.

If there's one thing that can be improved though, it's the collar straps. The material is flimsy. I just knew off the bat that it won't last very long with my Ridgebacks. I bought leather straps and the extra cost is worth it. I just wish I didn't really have to.

Very effective

Our Doberman is a jumper. Our fence is already high but that didn't stop him from leaping over, especially when he hears the stray cats outside. After a fruitless year trying to teach him not to do that, we finally just decided to get an in-ground fence. What a difference it made. In just a few days, he learned that crossing the boundary will give him a zap. He now stays put in the yard. We worry less. The in-ground fence saved our sanity. Sadly, the transmitter stopped working after about a year. Our dog is smart enough to realize the barrier is gone and is back to his old ways. I'm hoping we can still get the fence fixed.
