Best No Bark Collars – Top Anti-Bark Collars You Can Buy in 2022

Best No Bark Collars – Top Anti-Bark Collars You Can Buy in 2022

Original upload date: 9 June 2021, Updated: 7 June 2022

If you have a dog that won’t stop barking no matter what you do, then no-bark collars are your most logical next step. Incessant barking can get very annoying fast. In many cases, it doesn’t just affect the pet owner alone, either. Nuisance barking can be a pain for the neighbors, too.

There are a significant number of anti-bark collar brands available in the market today. Which one should you choose? What no bark collar is the best for your unrelentingly yappy canine companion? What should you even be looking for in a good bark collar?

We list down the best no bark collars in the market today to help guide your decision.

No Bark Collars Buying Factors to Consider

To make the review fair, we list down the essential features to look out for in every bark collar.

1. Stimulation Category

Bark collars typically come with the following stimulation categories:

  • Static – these collars produce a gentle shock to get the dog’s attention.
  • Sound – this could further be broken down to ultrasonic (high pitch only heard by dogs) and tone (usually a beeping sound meant to distract the dog from barking)
  • Vibration - uses a vibrating pulse to stop the barking
  • Spray - emits a spray of scented or unscented mist

Some no-bark collars may combine any of the above, while some only feature one specific stimulation.

2. Safety

Just like you’d make sure you personally only use safe gadgets, you’d want to do the same for your pet. Choose a reputable manufacturer, one that adheres to industry guidelines for bark collar safety.

We checked for association with either the Partnership for Electronic Training Technology (PETT) or the Electronic Collar Manufacturers Association (ECMA) to ensure these collars are safe to use on your dog.

A few other things to consider:

  • Warranty – trusted brands offer a product guaranty because they believe in their product
  • Customer Service – comprehensive and responsive support is a good indicator of a safe bark collar choice

3. Versatility

Effectiveness usually varies depending on whether you followed the manufacturer’s usage instructions well or not. Having said that though, these factors can also affect how well the bark collar will work:

  • Size – is it the right size for your dog? Will it allow adjustment should your dog grow bigger?
  • Fit – does it fit well? Do the contact points rest against your dog’s skin without issues? Are there contact point options for thicker-haired canines?
  • Correction Settings – How many correction levels are available? Does it provide a warning before triggering the correction?

    4. Convenience

No bark collars work well primarily because you don’t need to look out for the barking constantly. Instead, you can leave them on your dog, and they should automatically detect barking and initiate stimulation.

Now that you know what to look for, let’s talk about the top no-bark collars for nuisance barking.

    (+) Great battery life

    Cons:

(-) Only comes with static stimulation

    (-) A bit pricey

    Review:

SportDog® is one of the more reputable brands in the pet supply niche. They have a few models of no-bark collars available, and we’ll review three of them here. The first of the bunch is the NoBark SBC-R.

This comes with ten (10) static stimulation levels, and SportDog® is also quick to highlight that the SBC-R comes with three (3) programmable training modes – Temperament Learning, Progressive Correction, and User-Selected. But what does it mean? Simply put, temperament learning lets you leave the collar at the lowest level. Each time your dog’s barks come within 30 seconds of each other, the level will increase. The collar will then remember the level at which the dog stopped barking and start there the next time. The static correction level reduces 30 seconds after the barking stops.

Progressive correction is pretty much the same, except it always resets to the lowest level if your dog doesn’t bark again after 30 seconds. User-selected means you can manually choose the correction level, and it won’t adjust until you do so.

But what happens if your dog still won’t stop barking? If they bark continuously within 80 seconds, the collar’s safety feature kicks in. It will automatically stop issuing static stimulation for half a minute before returning to normal operation.

Now, for the most critical question – will the SBC-R no bark collar stop nuisance barking of all kinds? SBC-R is equipped with the SportDog® Silent Partner™ Technology that identifies your pet’s unique bark and filters out other sounds (so important if you have more than one dog in the house). So if regular barking is your problem, it should have no trouble delivering the stimulation and disrupting the barks. But how about whining, howling, and the like?

It is important to note that, in general, howling and whining create different throat vibrations and sounds compared to barking. As such, it may be too quiet to trigger the bark detection that makes no-bark collars effective. Some pet owners do say if the whining is loud enough, stimulation is delivered. But this does not happen all the time. So if whining is your main concern, this may not be the collar for you.

The SBC-R also comes with an OLED display that shows the mode of operation and battery status. This unit is waterproof up to 7.6 meters, takes only 2 hours to charge, and the battery lasts an absurdly long time. The SportDog® Brand NoBark SBC-R is, without a doubt, one of the best no bark collars for small to large dogs today.

    SportDog® NoBark SBC-10

    Best Mid-Priced No Bark Collar

    SportDog SBC-10 No Bark Collar

    Features and Specifications:

    • 2 Programmable Training Modes
    • 10 Static Correction Levels
    • Auto-Shut Off
    • DryTek Waterproof Design
    • Rechargeable Battery
    • For dogs 8lbs and larger
    • Collar Receiver without strap - 2.75"L X 1.125"W X 1.125"H

    Price: $99.95

    Pros:

(+) Waterproof up to 25 feet

    (+) Great battery life

(+) Less pricey than the SBC-R

    Cons:

(-) Only 2 programmable training modes

    (-) Static stimulation only

    (-) No LED screen

    Review:

The SportDog® Brand NoBark SBC-10 is like the little brother to the SBC-R. It comes pretty much with all of the SBC-R’s features, minus one. Unfortunately, the SBC-10 only comes with two (2) programmable correction modes – Progressive Correction and User-Select. However, considering that Temperament Learning (which the R has) is very similar to Progressive Correction anyway, we don’t feel this is too much of a loss.

You still get the Silent Partner™ bark-detection technology with this model. It ensures your pet is only given stimulation when he barks. This also effectively filters out other sounds, so the risk of getting a shock because of a different dog’s barking is almost nil.

This model does not come with a LED screen, however. While it’s not too much of a dealbreaker, it still is nice to quickly see what mode the unit is on, especially if you’re the type to toggle between settings depending on the situation.

There is one area where the SBC-10 gets a leg up over the SBC-R, though. Regarding being waterproof, the SBC-10 can be submerged up to 25 feet, while the SBC-R is only suitable for up to 10 feet. Of course, if you don’t live anywhere near the water anyway, this feature is a nice-to-have more than a must-have. Either way, it should be safe to wear the collar in the rain.

    SportDog® NoBark SBC-8

    Budget-Friendly No Bark Collar

    SportDog SBC-8 No Bark Collar

    Features and Specifications:

    • 8 Static Correction Levels
    • Silent Partner™ Technology
    • Auto-Shut Off
    • DryTek Waterproof Design
    • Replaceable Battery
    • For dogs 8lbs and larger
    • Collar Receiver without strap - 2.75"L X 1.125"W X 1.125"H

    Price: $69.95

    Pros:

    (+) Simple, easy-to-use design

(+) Cheapest SportDog® Brand no bark collar

    Cons:

    (-) Only 1 training mode

    (-) Static stimulation only

    (-) No LED screen

    (-) Non-rechargeable battery

    Review:

Of the three SportDog® Brand no-bark collars we reviewed, the SBC-8 is the cheapest. But the price savings mean you also lose out on some features. For example, unlike the SBC-R and SBC-10, the SBC-8 only has eight (8) static stimulation levels. Are the two (2) extra levels that important, though?

When it comes to stimulation levels, it’s always better to have more. Why, you may ask, especially if you don’t plan on using the highest level anyway? The quick answer is customizability. Imagine a no bark collar with only two (2) levels. Level 1 may be too low for your dog to feel anything. But level 2 may be too strong and hurt rather than help them.

Multiple correction levels ensure you find just the right amount of static correction for your pet. Having said that, though, eight (8) levels are still pretty good. Just not quite as good as 10.

Another minus point for this model is it only comes with Progressive Correction. There’s no option to manually choose one level and have it stay there until you decide otherwise. It also isn’t rechargeable. The battery lasts up to 200 hours only, at which point you’ll have to buy a replacement battery to continue using it. However, replaceable batteries are not without some advantages. The foremost of which is you won’t need to spend time waiting for the collar to charge before use. There’s also no charging port that can compromise the water tightness.

Overall, the SBC-8 is a simple, straightforward bark collar with enough features to still make it a viable choice for the more budget-conscious pet owner.

    Dogtra YS600

Best No Bark Collar for Medium and Large Dogs

    Dogtra YS600 No Bark Collar

    Features and Specifications:

    • 10 Static Correction Levels
    • Low to High Power Stimulation
    • Non-Stimulating High Performance Pager
    • Accelerometer Bark Sensor
    • Persistent Bark Indicator
    • Rechargeable Battery
    • Waterproof
    • For dogs 35lbs and up

    Price: $89.99

    Pros:

    (+) Enhanced, plastic-shielded contact points

    (+) Lightweight

(+) Works for howling and loud whining

    Cons:

(-) Receiver box is on the larger side

    (-) No progressive stimulation

    Review:

The Dogtra YS600 No Bark Collar is a no bark collar that’s lighter than you’d expect. This is surprising considering that the receiver box, while sleek-looking, is huge and bulky. At only 3.68 ounces, it’s less than half the weight of the SBC-R. But make no mistake, this no bark collar is highly effective and versatile.

The YS600 has low to high stimulation that goes from 1-10 levels. On top of that, it features a non-stimulating High-Performance Pager (HPP). This means you can choose to use static, vibration, or both to get the best results for your pet.

A built-in Accelerometer Bark Sensor ensures outside noise is filtered out and no false corrections are given to your dog. On top of that, a Persistent Bark Indicator will inform you anytime there’s excessive barking while the unit is turned off. The one downside to this unit is it doesn’t have an automatic progressive correction. So while the bark indicator feature makes it easier to decide if it’s time to increase the stimulation level, it also means you have to adjust manually.

The YS600 is designed to feel vibrations from the dog’s throat to activate the stimulation. Because of this, it can be effective not just for barking but also for howling and loud whining.

The Dogtra YS600 is solidly constructed, fully waterproof, and has plastic-shielded 5/8” enhanced contact points.

    Dogtra YS300

Best No Bark Collar for Small to Medium Dogs

    Dogtra YS300 No Bark Collar

    Features and Specifications:

    • 6 Static Correction Levels
    • Low to Medium Power Stimulation
    • Non-Stimulating High Performance Pager
    • Bark Recognition Sensor
    • Rechargeable Battery
    • Waterproof Receiver
    • For dogs 10lbs and up

    Price: $84.99

    Pros:

(+) Ideal for small to medium dogs

    (+) Small and compact

    Cons:

    (-) No vibration only mode

    (-) Not for stubborn dogs

    Review:

The Dogtra YS300 No Bark Collar is the smaller dog version of the YS600. It comes with a Sound Recognition Sensor Technology that is triggered by the dog’s bark. This collar is currently one of the smallest and most compact anti-bark collars in the Dogtra range.

It has much of the same things that the YS600 has, including a static training mode (1-6 levels) and a non-stimulation vibrating pager. It’s also fully waterproof, has surgical steel contact points, and is rechargeable.

Unlike the bigger YS600, though, the YS300 has low to mid-level stimulation only. Perhaps because it’s geared towards smaller to medium-sized canines, this despite it can fit dogs with neck sizes of between 9” to 20”. If you have a more stubborn dog then, this may not be your best option.

The vibration is also more of a warning before static is delivered than a full vibration-only training option.

The Dogtra YS300, overall, is still one of the better no-bark collars for small-medium dogs with normal to medium temperaments. If you have a harder-to-train pet, though, you’ll do better with its big brother, the YS600.

Eyenimal Deluxe Spray No Bark Collar

    Spray No Bark Collar

Eyenimal Deluxe Spray No Bark Collar

    Features and Specifications:

    • Built-in microphone to detect barking
    • Each bark triggers harmless spray
    • Water-resistant
    • Long-life battery
    • 3 spray options: lemon/citronella, lavender, unscented

    Price: $60

    Pros:

    (+) Spray stimulation option

    (+) Uses all-natural essential oils

    Cons:

    (-) Can be very sensitive

    (-) Not waterproof

    Review:

The Eyenimal Deluxe Spray No Bark Collar is exactly what it says – a spray collar. Instead of using static or vibration, the built-in collar microphone detects the barking and triggers a spray mist.

What’s great about using spray? For one, many would tell you it’s a more humane solution to shock. Another great selling point for this particular bark collar brand is that the spray included is “all-natural.” It’s also lightweight and showerproof. Aesthetically, this collar comes in a blue nylon strap that’s a fresh departure from the usual black collars in the market.

However, one thing to note with spray collars is that a lot of them can be very sensitive. Because the sensor relies on the vibrations from the dog’s throat, intense movement can sometimes trigger sprays, confusing your dog.

More stubborn dogs may also ignore the spray and keep on barking. On the other hand, some dogs are allergic to scented oils, and the spray can hurt their eyes. So pay close attention when you use this.

The Eyenimal Deluxe Spray No Bark Collar fits dog necks between 6” and 21.6”. The strap can easily be cut to size as needed.

    Garmin Bark Limiter Deluxe

Best Alternative to SportDog and Dogtra

    Garmin Bark Limiter Deluxe

    Features and Specifications:

    • Bark Differentiating Technology
    • Autorise Setting for Automatic Bark Correction
    • 1-7 Static Correction Levels
    • Vibration Stimulation
    • Bark Odometer
    • Rechargeable Battery
    • Waterproof
    • Compact and Lightweight

    Price: $99.99

    Pros:

    (+) Automatic stimulation setting

    (+) Bark Odometer

    (+) Compact and lightweight

    (+) Long battery life

    Cons:

    (-) On the expensive side

    (-) Belt pin buckle

    (-) No Automatic Shut Off

    Review:

Garmin is one of the most reputable brands in the market, and their Bark Limited Deluxe is another proof that this company knows what they’re doing.

This no bark collar has Garmin’s “Advanced Bark Correction technology.” What it means is that the sensors inside the box distinguish your dog’s barks and eliminates external noise to deliver a consistent and instant correction.

With seven (7) static correction levels and a vibration option, you can manually choose what works best for your dog. It also comes with an automatic program called “Autorise” that sets the stimulation intensity based on your pet’s barking behavior.

Another plus point for this bark collar is the Bark Odometer feature. Basically, it’s a bark counter. When you turn the unit off, it tells you how many times your dog barked and how many times he was corrected. This is particularly helpful in identifying if the current level is still working for your dog or if you need to adjust it already. If your dog becomes motionless, the unit goes in Sleep Mode automatically as well, so it conserves battery.

The one thing that can be improved is the belt pin buckle closure. Snap closure is always just a tad easier to put on a dog’s neck. But that may just be our preference.

Overall, the Garmin Bark Limiter Deluxe is in the higher price range for no-bark collars but is worth every penny.

    Dogwatch BarkCollar No-Bark Trainer

    Great Alternative for Short-Haired Dogs

    Dogwatch BarkCollar No-Bark Trainer

    Features and Specifications:

    • 5 Adjustable Correction Settings (Low to High Static Stimulation)
    • 1 Progressive Correction Setting
    • Vibration-Only Setting Option
    • 3-Second Bark Forgiveness
    • BarkCounter
    • Rechargeable Battery
    • Waterproof

    Price: $99

    Pros:

    (+) Bark Forgiveness feature

    (+) Auto-reset

    Cons:

(-) Not the best for longer-haired dogs

    Review:

The Dogwatch BT-7 BarkCollar No-Bark Trainer is a static stimulation bark control collar that also features a vibration-only option. It picks up the vibrations of your pet’s vocal cords and triggers the correction. It has two training modes: manual and progressive.

Manual Setting allows you to choose from the five (5) correction levels for the best suitable for your dog’s temperament. Meanwhile, the progressive mode lets you start at the lowest level, and it will slowly increase as your dog keeps on barking. If they don’t bark for 3 minutes straight, it will reset to the lowest level.

Another nice feature is it allows your dog to bark for 3 seconds before delivering a static correction. But it’s important to note that this only happens if the dog has been silent for a while. If they are barking relentlessly, the stimulation is delivered within 0.5 seconds instead.

This collar also has a bark counter similar to Garmin’s. It may, however, take some getting used to as the counter is guided by how many flashes the LED status light makes. For example, 2 flashes mean the collar activated between 1-5 times, 3 flashes are 6-10 activations, and so on.

If you have a longer-haired dog, it’s also worth mentioning that this may not be the best collar for you. The collar’s contact points do not work as well to penetrate through thicker hair, and you’ll find it delivers inconsistent correction.

Overall, it’s a decent option for its price and features if you have a mild to normal temperament dog with short hair. Otherwise, choose one of the other previously mentioned collars.

    • Three (3) Levels of Adjustable Bark Sensitivity

    Price: $109.95

    Pros:

(+) Has static, tone and vibration options

(+) For barkers, howlers, and whiners

    Cons:

    (-) Expensive

(-) Adjusting the fit can be challenging

    Review:

The E-Collar Technologies BP-504 No Bark Collar is one of the most versatile bark collars you’ll find in the market today. It is chock full of features it more than makes up for the price tag.

So what can you expect from this no-nonsense looking device?

For starters, it has three (3) modes in total – auto, manual and tone-only. On that alone, it already has an edge among competitors. It’s rare to find a good no bark collar that has static, tone, and vibration options. On top of that, the BP-504 has three (3) levels of adjustable bark sensitivity and a 5-second delay feature. This is great for peace of mind because you know your dog isn’t getting stuck in an endless stimulation cycle.

There’s also the Advanced Bark Suppression Technology (ABST) that uses “blunt” rather than “sharp” stimulation. What this essentially boils down to is the static shock generated by this collar isn’t going to cause a piercing kind of pain. Instead, the static may be likened to what chiropractors use to trigger muscle reflexes. And more importantly, it seems to work just as well with howlers as it does with barkers.

The other thing we loved about this bark collar is the biothane strap it came with. Biothane has antimicrobial properties and is waterproof. The only downside is the strap is also a buckle strap and fitting it may be challenging. Cutting it to size may also be the only option for smaller dog necks as there’s no extra slot to tuck the excess strap in.

On the whole though, the BP-504 is bang for buck and one of the best no bark collars available today.

Incessant barking is annoying. It strains your dog’s vocal cords and your neighbor’s nerves. So why let everyone suffer? A good no bark collar, used properly, will get rid of the nuisance barking problem quickly and effectively. The above list should help you find the perfect no bark collar for your dog, and you’d finally get to enjoy the peace and quiet you all deserve.
